Lucile G. Kitcey
Lucile G. Kitcey, age 86, formerly of Albion, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, PA. She was born in Elk Creek Township, Erie County, on October 23, 1921, the daughter of the late R. Hugh and Goldie Chamberlain Whittaker.
Lucile graduated from Albion High School in 1939. After receiving an Emergency Teaching Certificate, she was a teacher in the one room schools in Elk Creek Township at Bowes and Ivarea from 1943 to 1947. She later worked as a teacher's aide in the Northwestern School District until her retirement. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Albion, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and playing the piano and organ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank Kitcey, a son, Leonard Kitcey, two sisters, Lois Raymond Nichols, Mary W. Mihalak, and an infant brother. Surviving are two grandchildren, James Kitcey and Julia Kitcey, two nieces, Wendy Graff and her husband, Kenneth, Eloise Meeker and her husband Bernard, and many great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call the Steff-Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., and on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 145, Albion, PA 16401, the Albion Area Public Library, 111 East Pearl Street, Albion, PA 16401, or to the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department, 9920 Meadville Street, Cranesville, PA 16410.
