D oreen Ellen Long Benton
Doreen Ellen Long Benton, age 67, of East Springfield, died unexpectedly at St. Vincent Health Center on Monday, April 7, 2008. She was born on July 16, 1940 in Kane, PA, daughter of the late Glenn and Alva Johnson Long.
Doreen graduated in 1958 from West Springfield Township School. In 1986 she earned an Associates Degree in Business/Business Administration from Northeastern Business College.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Rolla M. Benton, whom she married on June 19, 1970, her mother-in-law, Ethel Benton, two daughters, Kathleen Milligan of Washington, PA, Cheryl Benton of East Springfield, five step-children, Charles Benton, Rolla Benton, Brian Benton, Melody Benton, all of the Springfield and Albion area, and Connie Benton of Ohio, 22 dearly loved grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Edward Dennis (Denny) Long of Virginia, William Long and his wife Janet of Erie, a sister, Sonya Leopold and her husband Don of Girard, several nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.
Friends may call the Steff-Mattera Funeral Home, 188 East State Street, Albion, on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dr. Ed Huntley officiating. Burial will be private.
