Herman L. Cowger
Herman L. Cowger, 69, of Cranesville, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family, after an extended illness. He was born June 7, 1938 in Hackers Valley, W.Va., a son of the late Frank and Orpha Vance Cowger.
Herman enjoyed fishing, working in the woods, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Pauline Rose Cowger; three children, Mike Cowger of Warren, Pa., Daryl Cowger and his wife, Kathy, of Albion, and Denise Cowger Spiegel and her husband, Paul, of Erie; five grandchildren, Keith, Tory and her fiancée, Codey, Nicole, Jessica, and Samantha; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Morrighan, Emma, and Bella. Also surviving are four sisters and two brothers, Jean Headly of Ohio, Laverna Nichols of West Virginia, Leroy Cowger of Albion, Larry Cowger of Erie, Maryann Macusco of Edinboro, and Hazel Casebolt of West Virginia. No calling hours will be observed.
Friends may attend a memorial service at the Cranesville Bible Church on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. Memorials can be sent to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, PA 16505, or to the Cranesville Fire Department, 9920 Meadville St., Cranesville, PA 16410. The Steff-Mattera Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion, is handling the funeral arrangements.
