R. Wayne Fobes
R. Wayne Fobes, 89, of Albion died on Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, PA. He was born in Albion on July 3, 1917 the son of the late Gordon and Nelia Simons Fobes.
He attended the Grace United Methodist Church in Albion. He was a member of the Mason Lodge, F&A.M. #304. He was a private pilot and enjoyed his time flying. Wayne graduated from Edinboro State Teachers College. He taught in a one room school house, grades 1-8 in Keepville and Bumpus, where he enjoyed field trips with his students. He was associated with Rogers Brothers Trailer as chief engineer until 1954 when he opened R. Wayne Fobes Trailers Sales and Services in Albion and Cleveland, OH. He retired in 2000.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Ellen Rindo and a brother, Lesley Fobes. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Frenzel Fobes whom he married on Feb. 24, 1940; two brothers, Dale (Lynette) Fobes, Albion and Russell Fobes, Saegertown; a sister, Phyllis (Leonard) Goldhart, Albion. Further survived by several neices and nephews.
Friends may call at the Steff Funeral Home, Albion on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend funeral services there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment in Albion Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Zem Zem Shriners Children's Hospital fund, 1645 West State St. Erie, PA 16502.
