Charlene Marie Jozefczyk

Charlene Marie Jozefczyk, 52, of Erie, died Saturday morning April 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Home East following lengthy illness. A resident of Erie all of her life she was born on January 21, 1959 a daughter of the late Richard J. and Loretta Smith Jozefczyk.

Charlene was a 1976 graduate of Tech Memorial and earned her B.A. in Computer Systems from Mercyhurst College in 1996. She went on to work for Hammermill Paper Company for 15 years and most recently had worked at Mercyhurst College as a computer technician and programmer for 13 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Lake Erie Women's Group. She was also a member of the Presque Isle J.C.and the Polish National Alliance Dancers. She taught dance at Long's School of Dance where she was a senior faculty member having 42 years of experience and was a teacher for the Polish American Dancers.

She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and scrapbooking. She enjoyed going to concerts and supported the Erie music scene and the Erie professional hockey teams.

Survivors include her aunts, Arlene Bidwell and her husband Calvin of Erie, Josephine DeMauri of Erie, Louise Wedzikowski of Erie, Theresa Caffazzo of Florida, Genevieve Kranz of Erie, Liz Jozefczyk of Erie, and Betty Smith of Erie; and many cousins, including her Goddaughter, Denise Bidwell.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Thursday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
