Rita M. Sherry Bednar

Rita M. Sherry Bednar, 73, of Millcreek, died Sunday April 10, 2011 at UPMC Hamot following many extended illnesses. A resident of Erie all of her life she was born on July 26, 1937 a daughter of the late James J. and Lucille Harris Sherry.

Rita worked at Hamot Medical Center for 5 years before retiring in 1995.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bednar, and one son, Chris A. Bednar.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa DiLeva and her husband Jerry of Pittsburgh; one sister, Shirley Cifelli of Erie; and two brothers, James J. Sherry and his wife Sue of Conneaut, OH and Frederick Momeyer and his wife Betty of Erie; one granddaughter Ellie DiLeva; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until the time of services there at 8 p.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
