Lucile H. Gillespie Bielak

Lucile H. Gillespie Bielak, 91, a resident of St. Mary's Home East, died Thursday evening January 13, 2011 at her residence following a brief illness. A resident of Erie most of her life and Florida for 25 years, she was born in Erie on October 22, 1919 a daughter of the late LeRoy and Mildred Bartlett Gillespie.

Lucile was a graduate of Erie Business School and went on to become a secretary and pre-school teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church. She then went on to become a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards, dancing, boating, and traveling.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Alois J. Bielak.

Survivors include one daughter, Merrianne Gaber and her husband Gary of Erie; one son, Michael Bielak and his wife Fran of North Royalton, OH; five grandchildren, Katie MacKenzie and her husband David of Phoenixville, PA, Kelly Gaber of Pittsburgh, Kimmy Gaber of Eagleville, PA, Karen Bielak of Chicago, and Christopher Bielak of Kansas City, MO; and one great grandchild, Maryn MacKenzie.

Calling hours will not be observed and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Home East on Monday at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary's Home East, 607 East 26th St., Erie, 16504.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and friends at St. Mary's Home East for their friendship to Lucile.
