James H. Chatley

James H. Chatley, 69, of Millcreek, died Sunday morning July 25, 2010 at his residence. A resident of Erie all of his life he was born on February 10, 1941 a son of the late Donald M. Chatley and Marjorie Wilkins Chatley Knowlton.

James was a 1959 graduate of Academy High School and went on to become a foreman supervisor with Penelec for 34 years before retiring in 1996. He was an avid hunter and loved spending time at his hunting camp. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Karen L. Brooks Chatley; one son, Terry James Chatley in infancy; and his step father, Harvey Knowlton.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Harrington and her husband Fred of Erie and Shelly Mangold of Erie; four grandchildren, Brandon Fontaine, Lindsay Pakulski and her fiance Trevor Onukiavage, Dylan Harrington, and Austin Davis; one step grandchild, Tyler Harrington; one great grandson Hayden; and a dear family friend, Miles Kovski of Erie. Several nieces also survive.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave) on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service there at 7:00 p.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Karen Chatley, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, 16508.
