Lucille M. Peck
Lucille M. Peck, 90, was led to heaven on Tuesday March 9, 2010 one day before her 91st birthday, following a brief illness. Devoted mother and loving friend to many, Lucille was born March 10, 1919 in Johnsonburg, PA, daughter to Josephine Erich Wilhelm and Henry Wilhelm.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her four brothers, Theodore, Kenneth, Jack, and Regis as well as two sisters, Dorothy and Mary Jane, who died in infancy.
Lucille graduated from Johnsonburg Area High School in 1936 and was employed at the Castenea Paper Mill until 1945. She moved to Erie to attend Ora Jean Beauty Academy and was employed as the first beauty owner and operator in the Beauty Salon at Hamot Hospital. She would also visit hospital rooms with her portable beauty shop to do some of the bed-ridden patients. She enjoyed this very much.
She worked as a beauty operator at several other shops around Erie until opening up her own salon on Parade Street named "Somethin' Different" She ran this business for many years until retiring in 1998. Lucille still continued to do her friends' hair in the beauty shop located in the basement of her home for a few years after that.
Lucille was one of the founding members of St. Luke Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking, and walking in her spare time. She loved being outside and was forever the welcoming smile to any visitor who would stop by for a friendly cup of coffee.
Lucille was married to Gerald G. Peck on February 3, 1949 at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, PA. She enjoyed this loving marriage for 49 years until Gerald passed away in 1998. She is survived by her two caring children, daughter Remlee L. Peck of Erie and son Randall L. Peck and his wife Kelly Bruce Peck of Seal Beach, CA.
Lucille has many nieces and nephews around the country as well as a tremendous outpouring of precious friends who would make her sparkling blue eyes light up whenever they would visit. Lucille had a big heart and a great sense of humor that would make anyone smile when they were around her. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
