Richard H. "Cheech" Brunner

Richard H. Brunner, 85, a resident of Waterford, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, March 5, 2010, at home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Erie, May 14, 1924, son of the late Anthony and Clara Hubert Brunner. He lived in the Erie area all of his life.

He was a sheet metal mechanic for 46 years. Cheech was a 1942 graduate of Erie Tech High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a life member of the VFW Post 28 in North East and a life member of Waterford American Legion Post 285.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Leona "Molly" Smith Brunner, three sons, Richard Brunner and his wife Mary Jo of Cambridge Springs, Anthony Brunner and his wife Pamela of Greene Township and James Brunner of Greene Township; two daughters, Teresa Leasure and her husband Charles of Venango Township and Ann Brunner of Greene Township. His also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters, many step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Jerome Brunner.

Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of Pine Ave. and East Gore Road, I-90 Exit 29). A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church , 9367 Wattsburg Road, celebrated by Rev. Jay Schultz. Burial will be private.
