Geraldine I. Rullmann Ahlgren

Geraldine I. Rullmann Ahlgren, 78, formerly of Oakwood Street, died Monday March 29, 2010 at Golden Living Center-Walnut Creek surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. A resident of Erie all of her life she was born on December 5, 1931 a daughter of the late Karl and Magdalena Kammerer Rullmann.

Geraldine was a 1949 graduate of East High where she was active in basketball and swimming and went on to work for Hammermill Paper Company. She was owner of Gerry's Antique Boutique on East Avenue for several years and was known for her knowledge of antiques, estate sales, and appraisals. She was very active in antiquing and supplied the Erie Playhouse with costumes for several years. She also enjoyed gardening and was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond Ahlgren, Sr.; three sisters, Helen Thompson, Dorothy Bailey, and Ruth Grubbs; and three brothers, Ernest, Arthur, and Carl Rullmann.

Survivors include five sons, Raymond Ahlgren, Jr and his wife Barb of Greene Twp, Richard Ahlgren and his wife Debbie of Kennewick, WA, Randy Ahlgren and Barb Ohmer of Erie, Robert Ahlgren and his wife Kim of Waterford, and Rodney Ahlgren "Lover of Bears" of Erie; 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Brian Moran, Pastor of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. Burial will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
