Thomas A. Carrig

Thomas A. Carrig, 78, of Greene Township, died Saturday February 13, 2010 at Florida Hospital South in Orlando, Fl. A resident of Erie all of his life he was born on August 7, 1931 a son of the late Robert and Beatrice Freebourn Carrig.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of Erie Business College and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He went on to work as an Engineer for Penn Central Railroad, New York Central Railroad and Conrail for 34 years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the Siebenbuerger Club, and the East Erie Turners Club. He enjoyed woodworking and was a licensed private pilot who enjoyed flying single engine planes.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son in infancy, Mark Carrig; sister Jackie Mowrey; and brother Robert Carrig.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Dumbeck Carrig; son Daniel Carrig and his wife Renea of Granbury, TX; daughters Mary Sue Michael of Massena, NY and Jill Peasley and her husband Bob of Painesville, OH; sister Betty Ann Dahn of McKean, PA; and grandchildren Danielle Carrig, Blake Carrig, Brandon Michael, Travis Michael and fiance Missy Schmidt, Mark Peasley and Michelle Peasley. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave.) on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m.. Burial will be in Mount of Olives Cemetery.
