Melonie Avey
Melonie Avey, 38, of Millcreek, died Thursday evening February 11, 2010 at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh following a brief illness. A resident of Erie all of her life she was born in Naples, Italy on November 3, 1971 a daughter of Donald and Karen Zingelewicz Schutz.
Melonie was a 1990 graduate of McDowell High School and had attended Penn State Behrend. She was a Clinical Assistant with Dr. Scott Lim, DO for six years and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and was a very special mother and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob William Avey in infancy; her maternal grandparents, Vance and Rita Zingelewicz; and her paternal grandfather, Edward Schutz.
Survivors include her husband of six years, William Avey; four children, Kelsey, Megan, Emma, and Ethan, all at home; two sisters, Lauren Martin and her husband Jeffrey and Lindsey Schutz, all of Erie; two brothers, Bryan Bowen and his wife Kristina and Matthew Schutz, all of Erie; and her paternal grandmother, Anna Mae Schutz, mother and father-in-law; Fran Avey of Erie and William Avey of Texas; Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave.) on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to prayer services there on Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fetal Care Center of Cincinnati in memory of Jacob William Avey, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH, 45229.
