Helen Bartoszek

Helen Izbicki Rutkowski Bartoszek, 91, of Erie, passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Vincent Health Center. A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 8, 1918 a daughter of the late John and Mary Saibytis Izbicki.

Helen was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 12 years, Edwin A. Rutkowski; her second husband of 19 years, Ted Bartoszek; one son, Edwin J. Rutkowski; one sister, Eleanor Krukowski; and one brother, Anthony Izbicki.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Andrews and her husband John; one brother, Alex Izbicki and his wife Virginia of Erie; two sisters, Jane Kay and Ann Wisnewski, both of Erie; one granddaughter, Jenifer Leuck and her husband Dave of San Diego; one great grandson, Steven Leuck; and two sisters in law, Wanda Benczkowski and Vicki Vargo, both of Erie. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Joseph Czarkowski, Pastor of Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, 16504.
