Dorothy Elizabeth (Hahn) Bumba

Dorothy Elizabeth (Hahn) Bumba, age 88, peacefully passed away Thursday, June 11, 2009 at her daughter Patricia's residence in Summit Township where she lived the past year.

"Doe-Doe" as called by family and friends was born Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1920 along with a twin brother, James to William Bernard Hahn and Theresa (Gusty) Hahn in Tarrs, PA. Dorothy shared her childhood with her 5 brothers, William, George, James, Robert and Jack, all of whom have since passed. She was a 1937 graduate of East Huntingdon High School. Dorothy was then employed by Robertshaw in Greensburg, PA as a firing pin tester for hand grenades during WWII. Afterwards, she worked in the linen service industry, retiring in 1983.

On December 27, 1945, Dorothy married Joseph A. Bumba. They resided in Mt. Pleasant, PA until Joseph passed away November 9, 1975. She then lived a proud, independent life, at home until 2008. She shared that time with close friends and neighbors. Dorothy enjoyed baking, sewing and sharing linens she created and watching the Pittsburg Pirates. Dorothy was also a founding member of St. Pius X Parish in Mt. Pleasant, PA.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia A. (Bumba) Kuzdzal and her husband Floyd J. Kuzdzal and Anita (Bumba) Solet and her husband Paul Solet. 4 grandsons include Jeffrey S. Kuzdzal, Todd W. Kuzdzal and his wife Pamela; Buchannon James Yoder and David Joe Yoder. Great-Grandchildren include Brandon Walter, son of Jeffrey S. Kuzdzal; Tess M. Kuzdzal and Leah S. Kuzdzal, daughters of Todd and Pamela Kuzdzal, several nieces and nephews and very good friend Matthew McCune, son of Karen and John McCune, her close friends Verna and Wayne King & Patsy and Lorraine DePalma.

Calling hours will be at Brooks Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, PA on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Burial will be at St. Pius X Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, PA. Please make donations to the Humane Society, 2407 Interchange Road, Erie PA 16506 or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16501.

A memorial service will be held Saturday June 27th at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, Route 97, Waterford, PA.
