Derek Allen

Derek Allen, of Wattsburg, 44, died Sunday morning at St. Vincent Health Center due to complications. A resident of Erie all of his life, he was born on January 27, 1965 a son of Arthur and Jane Zimmer Allen.

Derek had been a fitter with D.H. Steel, formerly Erie Steel Products, for 24 years. He was a former Cub Master in Wattsburg and enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, and many other outdoor activities.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife of 23 years, Michelle Ristau Allen; one daughter, Beverly Allen at home; two sons, Garett and Broderek Allen, both at home; two brothers, Christopher Allen and his wife Erica of Wattsburg, and Andy Allen of New Holland, PA; two sisters, Melonie Vanderhoof and her husband Kevin of Wattsburg and Bethanie Polito and her husband Brian of Wattsburg; a brother in law, Brian Ristau and his wife Lisa of Warren, PA; a sister in law Lynette Ristau and her fiance Ray Barber of Warren; a father in law Thomas Ristau of Warren, PA; one niece, Brianne Ristau; and eleven nephews, Brandon, Shane, and Kyle "Pete" Rourke, Tyler and Hunter Jones, Blake Ristau, Alex Polito, Casey and Coner Allen, Craig and Kyle Vanderhoof. He was preceded in death by his mother in law, Beverly Ristau.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore and Pine Ave.) on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services at Phillipsville United Methodist Church on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Russell Hixson. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
