Olive P. Culbertson
Olive P. Magee Culbertson, 91, an Erie resident since 1946 and formerly of Maiden Lane and the Tanglewood Apartments, died on Monday morning, December 22, 2008 at her residence at Independence Court following a lengthy illness. She was born in Sligo, Pa. on August 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Roy and Lilly Lerch Magee.
Olive was a member for over 50 years of the First United Methodist Church and also attended Trinity United Methodist Church. She also was a member of Mercy Center on Aging, Salvation Army Senior Citizens Center, and Gridley-Betsy Ross Chapter # 324, O.E.S. Olive was an avid walker and bowler.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Culbertson and his wife, Cheryl, of Apple Valley, Calif., and Richard Culbertson of Erie; a sister-in-law, Mary Magee, of Erie; three grandchildren; a step-grandson; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William L. Culbertson, on April 28, 1996; a sister, Bernice Kirsch, in 1995; and a brother, Wayne Magee.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Sunday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to services there on Monday morning at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Aaron Kerr, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. James Eaton and Rev. J. Howard Wright. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
