Aldona W. Blasco

Aldona W. Blasco, 82, formerly of Kelso Drive, died Friday morning October 31, 2008 at Abington Crest Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. A resident of the Erie area all of her life, she was born in Lowville, PA on January 6, 1926 a daughter of the late Joseph and Henrietta Mileski Blasco.

Aldona had been a piano and voice teacher for many years. She had studied with and was taught by Dr. Douglas Stanley of New York City and Maestro Charles Morati of Buffalo, NY. She had also worked with Brother Adrian Lewis where she learned to figure and press leaves. She had performed in the opera in New York City and worked with the Buffalo Civic Opera Company. During World War II she had worked with the Gibson & Cox Naval Architect Firm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Marian J. Elder who died on September 17, 1960. Survivors include one son, Scott M. Bailey of Erie; one brother, Joseph C. Blasco of Lake City; one grandson Matthew Bailey, one step daughter, Judith Snider of Corry; and a good friend Jean Stevens.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore and Pine Ave.) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
