Irene Chimenti

Irene Radziszewski Chimenti, 85, a lifelong Erie resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning, June 5, at the Hamot Medical Center. She was born in Erie on December 27, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Rose Brzezicki Radziszewski. Irene attended St. Stanislaus High School and graduated from East High School in 1941. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and sewing for her family. A member of St. George Roman Catholic Church, she enjoyed attending Mass at different Erie Parishes.

Survivors include two daughters, Rose Hale and her husband, Bill, of Erie, and Janice Dax and her husband, Edward, of Indianapolis, Ind.; five sons, Gerald Chimenti and his wife, Cheryl, of Pittsburgh, James Chimenti and his wife, Mary Lou, of Jamestown, N.Y., David Chimenti and his wife, Malinda, of Woodstock, Ga., Armand Chimenti and his wife, Kathy, of Erie, and Ronald Chimenti and his wife, Gail, of Green Bay, Wisc.; three sisters, Evelyn Radziszewski of Erie, Halina Radziszewski of Coral Springs, Fla., and Rose Zagenczyk of Erie; 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of two more great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, retired Erie Police Chief, Armand J. Chimenti, on May 27, 1985; three brothers, Fr. Joseph Radziszewski, Frank and Mickey Radziszewski.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, corner of E. Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Sunday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to prayer services there on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church at 10 a.m., celebrated by her close friend, Fr. James McCormick. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
