Linda Mae Wernicki Carter

Linda Mae Wernicki Carter, 58, a lifelong Erie resident, died unexpectedly Saturday May 24, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Erie on July 31, 1949 a daughter of Florence Miklinski Wernicki of Erie and the late Chester Wernicki.

Linda was a 1967 graduate of Academy High School. She had worked at the St. Vincent Health Center for over 18 years having been a ward unit secretary for many years and last working in the purchasing department. Previously, she had worked for several years at the GTE. Linda was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the Siebenbuerger Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society in which she belonged to its' Red Hot Mama's group. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and traveling. Everyone especially knew how much Linda loved her granddaughters.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband of 39 years, Earl L. Carter, Jr.; 2 sons, Earl Carter, III and his wife Tina of Erie and Daryll Carter of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sisters, Karen Dodson and Marsha Sosey and her husband Robert, all of Erie; 2 granddaughters, Brandi and Gillian Carter; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a daughter in law Sharon Carter.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to prayer services there on Thursday morning at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
