Susan Kosnac Astemborski

Susan Kosnac Astemborski, 54, a resident of Erie since 1977, died Monday evening, May 12, 2008, at Hamot Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Greenville, PA, May 19, 1953, daughter of Eleanor Dick Kosnac and the late John Kosnac.

She was employed at Forestview Healthcare Center at Springhill for three years. Previously she worked as a CPR Instructor and Nurse at Hamot Medical Center for 25 years. Susan was a 1972 graduate of Greenville Senior High School and then attended nursing school in Farrell. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. She loved nursing, reading, shopping and going for a drive.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Astemborski of Erie, a Son, Stephen Astemborski of Erie, her mother, Eleanor Kosnac of Greenville, a brother, Richard Kosnac of Greenville and her former husband, Robert Astemborski of Erie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Steven Kosnac. Two grandchildren also survive.

Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of Pine Ave. and East Gore Road, I-90 Exit 29). A prayer service will be held there Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Fr. Bruce Allison. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Greenville, PA. Memorials may be made to Erie County Diabetes Assn., 1128 State St., Suite 302, Erie, PA 16501.
