Robert L. Carniewski

Robert L. Carniewski, 69, a lifelong Erie resident, died unexpectedly on Tuesday morning April 8, 2008 at his home. He was born in Erie on April 29, 1938 a son of the late Frank and Louise Allen Carniewski.

He was an Army veteran serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Bob was a general contractor for many years owning and operating his own construction company and retiring in 1997. He was a member of American Legion Carl Neff Post # 571, VFW Kane, PA Post # 429, the St. Boniface Usher's Club, and the St. Francis Usher's Club in McKean. For many years, his greatest joy was spending time at his hunting camp.

Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Carniewski and his wife Michele and Jason Carniewski and his wife Deedee, all of Erie; a daughter, Karleen Johnston and her husband Robert of Wattsburg; 5 grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Carniewski, Ryan Carniewski, Chelsea and Rebecca Johnston.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Services will be private at the funeral home and at the family's convenience. Memorials may be made to the V.A. Medical Center Visiting Nurses Program, 135 E. 38th St., Erie, 16504.
