Carolyn Fuhrman Peterson
Carolyn Fuhrman Peterson, 60, formerly of Erie, PA, slipped away to a place of eternal peace on Monday morning March 24, 2008 at her home in Raleigh, NC surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Erie, PA on May 16, 1947 a daughter of Charlotte Crowe Fuhrman of Erie and the late Theodore Fuhrman, Sr.
Carolyn was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and her passions were spending time with her family and friends and music.
As a child she developed a strong passion for music and the fine arts which will continue to live on through her children and grandchildren. Her love of Pavaratti and playing the piano and guitar will be remembered always, as will her warm smile and devotion to her husband and sons.
Carolyn was a deeply caring woman in all aspects of her life including her lifelong career as a financial planner. Her work spanned over 20 years working for both Traveler's and Diversified Investment Company. She received her ChFC accreditation, which allowed her to better serve the needs of those she helped.
In addition to her dedication to her work, Carolyn was also with her education. She was Sr. class president of her 1965 Mercyhurst High SchooI and in 1966 attended and graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie. Later, she attended North Carolina State University where she proudly made the Dean's List.
In addition to her mother, Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Burt Peterson Jr.; her sons Brent Peterson and wife Jennifer and Matthew Peterson and wife Maria, all of Raleigh; 3 grandchildren Kaitlyn, Ashlyn, and Jack all of Raleigh; 3 brothers, Theodore Fuhrman Jr. and wife Rita, Timothy Fuhrman and wife Ginny, all of Erie, and Terry Fuhrman and wife Mary Anne of Concord, OH; 2 sisters, Connie Haibach and husband Gary of Saegertown, PA and Christine Pollock and husband David of Erie; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son Eric Mark Peterson.
Carolyn will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She had always said she wanted to be remembered as a "woman of substance" and she truly will be in both her life and in her death.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave. Friday 7 to 9 PM and are invited to prayer services there Saturday morning at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Catholic Church, Erie, at 10:00 AM.
