Mary Lou Hartman

Mary Lou Litz Hartman, 59, a lifelong Erie resident, died on Friday evening March 21, 2008 at the Millcreek Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Erie on August 27, 1948 a daughter of Gladys Libby Litz of Erie and the late Lanty W. Litz. She was a 1966 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and attended one year of Bible College in Dayton, Ohio.

Mary Lou had worked several years as a cook at the Salvation Army Senior Center. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She was an accomplished Gospel singer and had song in a number of Erie churches over the years.

In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Melissa Perfetto of Erie; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Perfetto of Kent, OH, Rob Perfetto of Erie, Secily Perfetto and her fiancee Justin Colley of Erie, and Kyley Perfetto of Erie; a great grandaughter Madison Colley; her husband Donald Hartman of Erie; 4 sisters, Elsie Rice and her husband Glen of Erie, Ann Muscarella and her husband Larry of North East, Patricia Howard of Ashtabula, OH, and her sister and best friend Faye Ott of Erie; 4 brothers, Wayne Litz of Huntsville, Ala., Terry Litz and his wife Martha of Dallas, TX, Walt Litz and his wife Cheryl and Ed Litz and his wife Doreen, all of Erie; special friends, Dave and Patty Coulson of Erie; many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother Mark Litz; a sister, Karen Hauser; and a grandaughter, Gina Marie Perfetto.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Monday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to services there on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Mike Grove, pastor of the Praise Cathedral in North East, PA. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
