Betty Bell Cole
Betty E. Bell Cole, 88, formerly of East 30th St, Erie, died on Saturday morning, September 15, 2007, at her residence at the Ball Pavilion at Brevillier Village following a lengthy illness.
A resident of Erie all of her life, she was born in Erie on December 7, 1918 a daughter of the late Thomas and Gertrude Brooks Bell. She was a 1937 graduate of Academy High School and first worked at Lerner's Clothing Store, then was the pianist and secretary for the Little Dance Studio, later worked at Trask's Department Store, and retired from the Green Stamp Store in Erie. Betty was the pianist for the Erepa Grotto Glee Club for many years and the former Delta Chapter #516 OES.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Bible School Teacher. She was a member of the Blue Star Mothers and Gridley-Delta Chapter #324 OES and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and playing the piano.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lester P. "Lefty" Cole in 1975 , a brother Richard Thomas Bell, and a great grandson Angelo Rondinelli.
Survivors include a son Thomas Cole and his wife Julie of North East; a daughter, Barbara Damico and her husband Gary of Erie; three grandchildren, Amy Rondinelli and Krissy and Rebecca Cole; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Louis Rondinelli and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 3520 Perry St. Wednesday morning September 19th at 11:00 AM officiated by the pastor, Rev. Hal Shafer. Funeral arrangements by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie.
Burial will be at the family's convenience at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 3520 Perry Street, Erie, Pa 16504 or to Brevillier Village, 5416 East Lake Road, Erie, Pa. 16511.
