Arthur J. Bielanin
Arthur J. Bielanin, 63, 4823 Perkins St., died unexpectedly on Monday evening June 11, 2007 at the Hamot Medical Center.
A lifelong resident of Erie, he was born in Erie on July 29, 1943 a son of the late Anthony Arthur Bielanin and Irene Granetto Bielanin. He had worked for the City of Erie Streets Department for 26 years and retired in 1994.
Art was an active member of St. Joseph Church Bread of Life Community where he was an usher and a server, Knights of Columbus Council # 13602 at St. Joseph's and the Francis V. Kloecker, Jr. Fourth Degree Assembly, Siebenbuerger Club, Nuova Aurora Society, was an avid camper, enjoyed vacationing, and a sport entusiast who was a die hard NY Yankee fan. Art participated in the Silver Sneaker Program at the Glenwood Park YMCA and had attended weekends with the Diocesan Marriage Encounter and Cursillo.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Patty Phillips Bielanin; a son, Steven Bielanin of Erie; 2 daughters, Theresa Herrmann and her husband John of Erie and Alicia McDonald and her husband Paul of Waterford; 3 grandchildren, Samantha Filson, Christian Pawlik, and John Herrmann, Jr.; a sister, Anne Marie Huber of Erie; a niece and 2 nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister Jacki Sawtelle.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Wednesday 7 to 9 PM and Thursday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to prayer services there on Friday morning at 11:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church Bread of Life Community at 12:30 PM.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church Bread of Life Community, 147 W. 24th St., Erie, 16503 or the Humane Society, 2707 Zimmerly Rd., Erie, 16506.
