John William "Bill" Allamon
John William "Bill" Allamon, 87, a lifelong Erie resident, died on Thursday evening, April 12, 2007 at his home in Millcreek, surrounded by his loving family and following an extended illness. He was born in Erie on March 9, 1920, a son of the late John and Elva Spencer Allamon and was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Bill had worked in Cost Accounting at GE and retired in 1982 after 42 years with the company. He was also Manager of the Locomotive & Control Employee's Federal Credit Union for over 55 years. A member of Luther Memorial Church, he also belonged to the Zukor Club, Elks Lodge, and the East Erie Turners and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Audrey Monseur Allamon; two daughters, Sandy Gulick and her husband, David, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Debi Boyce and her husband, Pat, of Erie; a son, William "Billy" Allamon, of Erie; a brother, Richard Allamon, of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Charles, and Harold "Gene" Allamon; two sisters, Audrey Morton and Wilma Lense.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Saturday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are invited to services there on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Billie Loomis. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach St., Erie, 16501.
