William P. Thayer

William P. Thayer, 78, of Cranesville, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Milcreek Community Hospital. He was born in Erie on January 11, 1931 son of the late William O. and Bertha V. Smith Thayer.

William served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Order of the Odd Fellows, the Franklin Center United Methodist Church and retired from the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #12.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Thayer and his brother John Thayer.

Survivors include beloved wife of 54 years, Lorna Jean Carson Thayer; three sons, Stephen J. Thayer, of Edinboro; Thomas Thayer and his wife Veronique of FL; and John Thayer and his wife Cynthia of Edinboro; two daughters, Kimberly Gebhardt of Cranesville; and Nancy S. Komaromy and her husband Robert of Edinboro; two brothers, David O. Thayer of Girard; and Richard Thayer and his wife Joanne of FL; two sisters, Lois Vaclavik of Willow Street, PA and Susan Greider of Willow Street, PA; also eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A service will be held there on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Barbara English officiating.
