Edward Gerald Coverdale

Edward Gerald Coverdale, 77, of McKean, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 30, 2009 at his home. He was born in Erie, PA on November 3, 1931, son of the late William and Adessa Mae Coverdale.

Ed proudly served in the United States Army. He was a conductor with East Erie Commercial Railroad for 42 years, and retired in 1995. Ed enjoyed growing potatoes, having a big garden and flowers. He loved John Deere equipment and working on farm equipment. He also enjoyed square dancing and spending time with his close friends and neighbors and his granddaughter.

Ed was a member of three senior centers; the Erie Center of aging, the Union City Senior Center and the Crawford County Senior Center, he was also a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union.

On October 13, 1962 Ed married the love of his life Nancy at the McKean Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his brother James Coverdale and his in-laws Almond and Hazel Lewis.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Nancy Lewis Coverdale; two daughters, Nanciejane Coverdale of S.C.; and Rhonda Hauser and her husband John of Erie; two sisters, Doris Grande of Erie; and Dorothy Critchfield also of Erie; his cherished Granddaughter, Breanna Hauser of Erie; his three Godchildren; Anna Phillips, William Coverdale and Cheryl Jenks; and his loving pet Ashes Marie.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Burial will be private for the family.
