Bertha "Bea" Chernicky

Bertha "Bea" Soety Chernicky, 75, of McKean, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Millcreek Community Hospital. She was born in Erie on January 31, 1933, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Julia Davis Soety.

Bea and her husband Emil married on January 21, 1950. She worked as the bookkeeper and secretary for Emil Chernicky and Sons Builders for 30 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, making a Cursillo in 1976, and serving as treasurer for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Eaton. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Emil Chernicky; one daughter, Cindy Balsiger of Grand Valley, PA; 3 sons, Kenneth Chernicky and his wife, Barb, of McKean, Michael Chernicky of Fla, and Emil J. (E.J.) Chernicky and his wife, Amy, of Edinboro; also five grandchildren, Brian, Micah, Kris, Matt, and Kiley Chernicky; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be held there on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in McKean at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark Nowak officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
