Charles W. Wilkins

Charles W. Wilkins, 89, of Edinboro, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center in Dade City, Florida. He was born June 10, 1918 in Union City, the son of the late Charles Clifton and Arline Wood Wilkins.

He retired in 1980 after many years of service with Agway Petroleum in Edinboro. Prior to working for Agway, he worked on the family farm as a teenager and then Sterling Milk Company and GLF Company.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and socializing with many friends in the Edinboro area as well as his winter home in Zephyrhills Florida. He also enjoyed playing cards and staying current with news events.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Wilkins, two sisters, Dorothy Watson and Margaret Smith, a son-in-law Kenneth Haines, grandson Joe D. Wilkins, and great granddaughter Madison Weaver. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Leona Wilkins of Edinboro, daughter Betty Haines of Stoneboro, three sons, Joseph Wilkins and his wife Karen of McKean, Duane Wilkins and his wife Donna of Spring Texas, Dennis Wilkins and his wife Michelle of North East, a brother Harold Wilkins and his wife Barbara of GA; three sisters, Ruth Gourley and her husband Raymond of Union City; Lois Shreve of Union City; Ellen Gourley of Cambridge Springs; he is also survived by eleven grandchildren Deanna Yarnell, Chris Haines, Jennifer Weaver, Kari Katreeb, Kristi Park, Katie Wilkins, Duane Wilkins Jr., Shelly Trotter, Jason Wilkins, Jamie Wilkins, and Caitlin Wilkins, as well as eleven great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Edinboro United Methodist Church, on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. H. Randolph Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Neilltown Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Edinboro United Methodist Church, 113 High Street, P.O.
