Mildred J. Chamberlain Barnes

Mildred Joan Chamberlain Barnes, 85, of Blystone Road, Cambridge Springs, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at her home. She was born in Cussewago, PA on December 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Elton and Edith Kearney Chamberlain.

She attended Edinboro High School and graduated in 1938. Mildred worked as a secretary for Jerry Bruno, working at the Edinboro Redi Mix Plant and for the Holiday Inn in Edinboro. She also worked for many years as a telephone operator. In her early years she worked at the American Viscose Corporation in Marcus Hook, PA Mildred was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Cambridge Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon H. Barnes in 1983; a brother, John Chamberlain and a sister, Patricia Hayes.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Barnes of Townville, PA and Daniel Barnes of Dallas Fort Worth, TX; and a brother, Edward Chamberlain of Columbus, OH, also 6 grandchildren; Richard, Sara, Anne, Chris and Jessica Barnes, Missy Moss, and a great grandson, Chris Barnes Jr.

Friends may call Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro. A service will be held there on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Lawrence T. Speice officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Crossingville. Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Erie County, 1305 Peach Street, Erie PA 16501 or the American Cancer Society (Erie Unit), 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
