Marjorie J. Fair Curtis

Marjorie Jane Fair Curtis, 76, of Edinboro, died Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Butler, Pa. on March 16, 1931, the daughter of the late Harry C. and Mary Adamosky Fair.

Marge loved cooking for her family and friends, sewing for the children of the Shriners Hospital and winters in Florida where she enjoyed playing cards with friends. She loved to organize social gathering and was always the first to volunteer whenever she saw a need. Marge began a career as a Real Estate Agent with Spiegel Realty in Erie, Pa. in 1970. She then obtained her brokers license and owned and operated Century 21 Curtis Real Estate in Franklin and in Edinboro. She then retired from Curtis Realty, ending a career of more than 20 years. Marge was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Nile, and a past president of the Shadbush Club. She also served as President of the General McLane School Board for the 1975-76 school year. Most recently she served as Secretary of the Edinboro Lakeside Association. In Franklin, she was the first female member of the Kiwanis Club, a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and co-founder of Franklin’s Annual Apple Fest. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills.

Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years Charles A. Curtis, Sr.; four sons, Craig Curtis and his wife, Susan of Doylestown, Pa., Roger Curtis of Baltimore, Md., Jeffrey Curtis and his wife, Denise of Franklin, Pa., and Charles Curtis, Jr. of Quakertown, Pa.; a sister Patricia Kalina and her husband, Thomas of Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Eleanor, Hunter, Lindsey, Kristen, Chloe and Paige; three nephews, Mark, Todd, and Chad; one niece, Carol.

No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Drakes Mills with Rev. Elsa L. Clark officiating. The Glunt Funeral Home, Edinboro, an Independent Care Group Affiliate is in charge of funeral arrangements. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Drakes Mills. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA, 16505-5097 or the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, PO Box 251, Cambridge Springs, PA 16403.
