Elmer Norman Alexander

Elmer Norman Alexander, 92, of Route 6, Union City, PA went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 2, 2011, at his home.

He was born February 15, 1919, in Cambridge Springs, PA the son of the late Norman and Bessie (Whiteley) Alexander. Following his graduation from Union City Area high school in 1937, Elmer worked in the unemployment office at Areo Supply Co. in Corry, PA for several years. He served as a classification specialist in the United States Army. From 1948 to 1979 he worked at Corry Jamestown Mfg. as Production Control Supervisor and later as Supervisor of Special quotes in the marketing department.

He then worked for ten years in the shipping department of Union City Chair Co.

Elmer was a life- long member of the First United Methodist Church of Union City, PA, where he served on various committees. He was also a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #882, and the American Legion, LeBaron Post # 237 both of Union City, PA. Some of his favorite activities include maintaining his yard and garden, playing golf, bowling, attending Union City Bears Sporting events and spending time with his family.

Bedsides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Greg Robert Alexander, and a brother Clarence Alexander.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn (Tarbell) Alexander, a daughter Debbie A. Bisbee, a son David Nelson Alexander and his wife Debra, four grandchildren, Angela Maleski, and husband Chad, Casey Jack and her husband Chad, Aaron Bisbee and Sharon Bisbee; four great grandchildren, Gloriana Proper, Bryce and Gavin Maleski, and Logan Bisbee; a sister Frances Beeman and her husband Gordon, and a sister-in-law Vivian Alexander and several nieces.

Friends are invited to call at the First United Methodist Church, 42 East High Street, Union City, PA on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and attend funeral services there on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Parkinson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City, PA.
