 Jon Eric Fisk
Jon Eric Fisk, 62, of Daytona, passed away at home unexpectedly on August 23, 2010. Jon was born in Union City, Pennsylvania on May 11, 1948 to the late Richard and Margery Ann (King) Fisk. He was a graduate of Union City High School in 1966. While attending Jon had the opportunity to study abroad with the AFS foreign exchange program in Denmark.
After high school Jon went on to attend Edinboro Pennsylvania State College, with a focus in Education. He graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1971. Jon later enlisted in the US Army serving as a Russian interpreter in Monterey California at the Defense Language Institute. He also served behind iron curtain in Berlin in 1974.
He then pursued his passion of education and taught several years at the Pleasant Township Elementary School in Warren Pennsylvania. Jon later moved to Daytona Beach and began teaching at Ormond Beach Elementary, and later at Pine Trail Elementary in Ormond Beach, retiring in July of 2010.
Jon was an avid animal lover, especially to his dog Spencer. He also enjoyed collecting, traveling, education, and surrounding himself with those he held dear. Jon was a generous person who enjoyed showering friends and family with gifts. He had a heart of gold, the patience of a saint, and a spirit that will most certainly live on. He will be sorely missed by those that loved him, and always remembered.
Survivors include his beloved partner of 35 years Mike Ferrie, of Daytona Beach, sisters Judith Phelps, of Union City, Pennsylvania; Janet LeSuer, of Rockledge, Florida; Janele Shontz, of Baden, Pennsylvania, brothers Kenneth Fisk, of Erie, Pennsylvania, William Fisk, of Titusville, Pennsylvania, Bradley Fisk, of Union City, Pennsylvania, several nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends.
A visitation was held Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Lohman Funeral Home in Ormond, Florida. Callings hours will be observed at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home Inc., 62 South Main Street, Union City PA on Wednesday September 1, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Rev. James Parkinson of the First United Methodist Church will officiate with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donation's can be made to a charity of your choice in Jon's memory.
