Milton Carlyle Chaffee

Milton Carlyle Chaffee, 93, of East Columbus Avenue, Corry, Pa., died on Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Corry Manor Nursing Home, Corry, Pa. He was born December 19, 1914 in Wattsburg, Pa. the son of the late Lynn and Lesa (Thiem) Chaffee.

He was a graduate of the School of Lumber Grading in Memphis, Tenn., and had worked for the Irwin Manufacturing Company of Garland, Pa. and then for Spartywood of Spartansburg, Pa. retiring in 1978. He attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Union City, Pa.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Janet Chaffee in September of 1966. Survivors include his wife Marjorie (Earll) Chaffee of Corry, Pa. whom he married on September 11, 1943 in Union City, Pa. and they recently celebrated 64 years together. Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Lay and her husband William of Corry, Pa. and Ruth Stolz and her husband Samuel of Union City, Pa., three sons: Ivan Chaffee and his wife Linda of Union City, Pa., Wayne Chaffee and his wife Cathrine of Meadville, Pa. and Roger Chaffee of Erie, Pa. and six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends are invited to call at the Glenn Funeral Home, 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa., on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. and attend funeral services there on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Thomas Hunsberger will officiate and interment will be in Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa. Memorials are requested to the Visiting Nurses Association, 1305 Peach Street, Erie, PA 16501-9979 or to the Union City Senior Center, 27 Johnson Street, Union City, PA 16438.
