Merle Allen

Merle Allen, age 76, of Lake Pleasant died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at home. He was born on May 13, 1931 a son of the late Milton and Doris Curtis Allen.

He graduated from Wattsburg High School in 1949 and was a member of the former Juva Baptist Church. Merle retired in 1993 from the Molded Fiber Glass Boat Company in Union City after 36 years of employment. He attended the Lake Pleasant United Methodist Church. Merle was a fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team, an avid gardener, and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marjorie Brumagin Allen, his four daughters: Carol Parsons of Waterford, Susan Ackman of Georgia, Joan Burns of Butler, and Diane Stillmunkes of Iowa, by 10 grandchildren: Kari, Nicole, Rebecca, Mark, John, CJ, Ashley, Sarah, Kathleen and Laura, and one great granddaughter Aubreigh. Also survived by a brother, Leonard Allen of Waterford and a sister, Audrey Proper of Virginia. Merle was loved by many friends and family members and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call at the Glenn Funeral Home, 62 South Main St., Union City on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. and are invited to attend funeral services there on Wednesday at 11 A.M. Rev. Robert Fuller, pastor of Lake Pleasant United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Phillipsville Union Cemetery.
