Gerald William “Bill” Blakeslee

Mr. Gerald William “Bill” Blakeslee, 71 of Holden Road, Union City, Pa. went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at his residence. He was born October 17, 1935 in Union City, Pa. the son of Susie (Sieklucky) Blakeslee and the late Gerald Blakeslee.

He owned and along with his family operated the Blakeslee Furniture Store in Union Township. He was a long time member of and Past President of the Evergreen Cemetery Association, and was also a member of Eureka Lodge F. and A.M. #366 of Union City, Pa. the Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of Erie, and the Zem Zem Shrine A.A.O.M.S. where he was a 33rd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his father Gerald Blakeslee. Survivors include his wife Carolyn (Butler) Blakeslee whom he married on August 18, 1956 in Lincolnville, Pa. a daughter Kristy Blakeslee of Pittsburgh, Pa. three sons, Kevin Blakeslee and his wife Roberta and Blain Blakeslee and his wife Tina of Union City, Pa. and Blair Blakeslee and his wife Karin of Columbus, Pa. a sister Grace Dennison of Williamston, South Carolina, a brother Charles Blakeslee and his wife Karen of Union City, Pa. and six grandchildren, Joshua, Kayla, Rachel, Megan, Charity, and Summer Blakeslee.

Friends are invited to call at the Glenn Funeral Home, 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa. on Monday, May 7, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and may attend funeral services at the United Presbyterian Church, 37 West High Street, Union City, Pa. at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2007. Rev. Robert Willert, Rev. Blair Blakeslee and Rev. Dan Abrams will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Union City, Pa. Memorials are requested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505, or to the Scottish Rite Scholarship or the Scottish Rite Learning Center, at P.O.B. 9007, Erie, PA 16505 or to the United Presbyterian Church, 37 West High St. Union City, PA 16438.
