James Louis "Bud" Britton Jr.

James "Bud" Louis Britton, Jr., 78, of Erie, passed away on February 8, 2011 at Millcreek Community Hospital. He was born in Utahville, Pa. on January 12, 1933, son of the late James Louis and Ruth O'Donnel Britton, Sr.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Simmons, a granddaughter, Stephanie McGuigan, a great grandson, Zachary Shultz, two brother in laws, Raymond Morgan and Jack Benedict, and a nephew, Jackie Benedict.

He retired from Riley-Stoker after 30 years of service. He was a Chief Union Stuart for Boilermakers Union 151. He also coached Little League Baseball.

He is survived by seven children; a son James Britton (Loreta) of Franklin Twp., a daughter Barbara McGuigan (John) of North East, son Gerald Britton of Erie, daughter, Ruthann Edinger (Dave) of Waterford, daughters, Cynthia Britton, Rosemary Fetzner (Daniel), and Carolyn Irwin (Jeff), all of Erie; a twin sister, Joanne Morgan of New York and a sister Faye Jerioski (Frank) of Harborcreek. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association , 823 Filmore Street, Erie, PA 16505.
