Frances V. Zalewski Bargielski

Frances V. Zalewski Bargielski, 90, of Erie, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2010 at her residence. She was born May 25, 1920 in Erie, daughter of the late Alexander and Sophie (Przybycin) Zalewski.

She was a founding member of St. Luke Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed yard work, crocheting, cooking, and baking. She was known for her specialty of baking elderberry pies and elderberry coffee cakes.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Hank" Bargielski in 1992, and a brother Albert "Obbie" Zalewski. Survivors include four daughters, Pat Bargielski of Erie, Kathy Kozak (Rich) of Harborcreek, Linda Curtin (Dr. Randy) of Warren, Ohio, Betty Menc (Bob) of Montoursville, Pa., three brothers, Ray Zalewski (Alice), Richard Zalewski (Donna), Harry Zalewski all of Erie, nine grandchildren, Bethany, Lindsay, Megan, Kyle, Michael, David, Paul, Kimberly, LeAnn, five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Fiona, Logan, Lucas and Nicholas. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Luke Church, 421 East 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503 is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the caregivers who cared for their mother during her extended illness.
