Richard Murray Flick
Richard Murray Flick, 60, of Erie, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Somerset, Pa., a son of the late Richard and Martha Murray Flick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Taylor.
Richard graduated from Somerset Area High School and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, where he was a founding member of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. He received a Masters of Science Degree in Pathology from the Medical College of Virginia. He had aspirations of receiving his Ph.D. He was employed as a medical technologist and Lab Manager. He was certified by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He enjoyed fishing with his son, Adam. A lover of music, he enjoyed the steel string guitar and the group Meatloaf. He was an avid golfer who made a 142 yd. hole in one at Middle Creek Golf Course in 1971.
He is survived by his devoted wife and mother of his two children, Elaine Zasada Flick, of Erie; two children, Adrianne Flick of Philadelphia, and Adam Flick of Erie; two siblings, David Flick and his wife, Susan, of Somerset, and Marjorie Brant and her husband, Roy, of both Saegertown and Somerset. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Jeff Orton, and his wife, Mary Jane, of Franklin, and Tenn and Stewart Saylor of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Catherine Zasada, of Erie; and many nieces and nephews. Richard will be sadly missed by his siblings and other family members. Local arrangements were handled by the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 E. 12th St., Erie, PA 16503.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, 494 W. Main St., Somerset, PA 15501, on Thursday from 2 p.m.t o 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on Friday. Burial will be in Lavansville Cemetery.
