Wanda "Vi" J. Rudzinski Donikowski
Wanda "Vi" J. Rudzinski Donikowski, 84, of Erie, and formerly of 460 E. Fourth St. and St. Joseph's Apartments, 517 Maryland Ave., died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born July 10, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Orchkowska Rudzinski.
She worked as a riveter for General Fireproofing in Youngstown, Ohio and also for Unsco Laundry. She was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and was active in the Rosary Society. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening, pets and doing volunteering and volunteered at St. Patrick's Food Bank.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Francis Donikowski in 1980; one daughter, Katherine L. Donikowski; one sister, Lucy Ostasiewicz; and three brothers, Harry and Stanley Rudzinski, and John Rudzenski. Survivors include one daughter, Rita Clacher, of Erie; two sons, John Donico and wife, Linda, and Joseph Donikowski, both of Erie; one grandson, Jay Adam Donico, and wife, Maggie, of Loxahatchee, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Laura Panek, and husband, Damian, of North East, Pa. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Kaitlin and Courtney Donico of Loxahatchee, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 E. 12th St., Erie, PA 16503, Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to the Humane Society Kennels, 2707 Interchange Rd., Erie, PA 16506.
