 Michael Joseph Loeslein
Michael Joseph Loeslein, 62, of Fairview went to be with the Lord Friday, January 27, 2012 surrounded by his family. Born November 8, 1949 in Erie; Michael was the youngest son of the late Raymond J. and Dorothy Steiner Loeslein.
He was a 1967 graduate of Strong Vincent High School. Following graduation he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. He served at Kunsan AB, Korea as a Sergeant Air policeman from 1968 to 1969. Mike returned to Erie in 1971 and married Colleen Butts Loeslein in 1978. Mike, along with his wife Colleen and their children Mike and Robin have owned and operated Creamland Drive-In for 32 years, and Chestnut Place Hallmark for 15 years, both in Fairview, Pa. Mike was a member of Elks Lodge 67, Fairview American Legion Post # 0742 as well as the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed golf with his brothers Ray and John, friends Jim and Dennis, and played every Thursday afternoon at Overlake Golf Course. Mike, along with his brother Ray, were also fans of the Cleveland Indians, watching nearly every game on TV or listening to them on the radio. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, was a true to heart "do it yourself" handyman, and always sought the best for his family, home and businesses.
In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by his nephew Neal D. Loeslein, sister Shirley Marlette and brother Raymond D. Loeslein, also an aunt, Elizabeth Blanchard. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Colleen Butts Loeslein of Fairview; his daughter Robin E. Loeslein-Schoiack of Spotsylvania, Va.; a son Michael R. Loeslein of Erie; a sister Sally Smith and her husband Paul of Cranesville; a brother John D. Loeslein and his wife Robin of Erie; and sister-in-law Shirley Loeslein of Fairview. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Friends may call Monday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Catholic Church 7100 West Ridge Rd. Fairview on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Detisch officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with full military honors.
