Helen C. (Fetsuga) Connors

Helen C. (Fetsuga) Connors, 85, of Girard, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born on January 12, 1926, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Michael and Mary Vanicek Fetsuga.

Helen graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1944, and was a lifelong member at St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, and baking. She was well known in the family for her Christmas cookies and nut rolls of which she made hundreds and hundreds each holiday season. She delighted in sending them home with her children and grandchildren. Nobody who ever visited Helen went away hungry. She will be missed by those who knew her laughter, her hospitality, and appreciated her firm resolve and her candid opinions.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Alice White. Helen will leave behind her husband of 62 years, William "Bill" Connors. Helen and Bill married on July 9, 1949 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Girard. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Janice Suscheck and her husband, Dennis, and Barbara Munro and her husband, Mark, both of Girard; two sons, Roger Connors and his wife, Jane, of Girard, and Patrick Connors and his wife, Elaine, of Apalachin, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Fetsuga of Lake City; ten grandchildren, David, Mark, Daniel and Michael Suscheck, Katherine Munro, Laura, Brian, Timothy and Colleen Connors and Erin Raskin (Connors); great-grandchildren, Kevin, Luke, Brett, Austin, and Danielle Suscheck and Olivia Raskin; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, at the Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery of Girard. Memorials may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 101 Olin Avenue, Girard, PA 16417, or a charity of your choice.
