Selma M. Brocket

Selma M. Brocket, 76 of Lake City, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at her home. She was born in Fairview on February 11, 1934 to the late Archie L. and Dorothy S. (Camp) Struchen.

After graduating from Springfield High School in 1952, she worked as a secretary in the office at Marx Toys in Girard. She later worked at EMSCO in Girard, then left there to raise her family and take care of her family and home. Selma was a dedicated and devoted mother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She attended the Federated Church in East Springfield and enjoyed the Springfield Senior Center. She also enjoyed collecting humming bird items, working in her flower garden and appreciating the beauty of nature and wildlife.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death in 1993 by her loving husband, Robert L. Brockett, whom she married on October 24, 1953. Selma will deeply missed by her daughter, Linda M. Brockett of Erie, and her seven sons, Robert L. Brockett Jr. of West Springfield, Gordon G. Brockett, Ronald D. Brockett, both of Lake City, Donald L. Brockett and his wife, Jean of Pleasantville, Pa., Darrell R. Brockett and his wife, Robin of Enon, Ohio, William H. Brockett and his wife, Wendy of Millcreek, and Charles E. Brockett and his wife, Louise of Ashtabula, Ohio. She will also be missed by her brothers, Gerald Struchen and his wife, Shirley of Girard and Clinton Struchen of Amarillo, Tex.; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
