Isabelle J. "Izzy" Cooper

Isabelle J. "Izzy" Cooper, 74 of Lake City, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center. She was born September 27, 1935 in Sharon, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Roseski Jones.

Upon graduating from Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard in 1954, she worked for Denman's Theater and Pat's Bakery. Izzy co-owned C & C Supermarket, along with her husband Bob in Lake City until 1974. From 1988 until her retirement in 2007, she was an office manager for Dr. Richard Juang's medical practice in Girard. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard. Izzy was also very proud that she chaired the "Needy Families Fund" in Lake City for many years. She also enjoyed working in her yard and especially her flower garden.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death in 1996 by her husband, Robert L. Cooper, whom she married on September 25, 1954 in Girard. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Martha Vanicek, Margaret McDonald, and Gladys Smisko. Izzy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Mary Beth Himes (Patrick Traut); her son, Gary Cooper (Cheryl Cook), all of Girard; sisters, Catherine (Kate) Platz of Girard and Patricia Schultz of Seminole, Fla..; brother, Thomas Jones of Cottonwood, Ariz.; granddaughters, Alexandra Lee Himes, Elizabeth Katherine Himes and Rachael Lee Cooper; along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Saturday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A prayer service will be held there on Saturday at 2 p.m. The family requests that friends send flowers to someone they love, or send a memorial to West County Paramedic Association, 6852 Meadville Rd., Girard, PA 16417 or to Lake City Fire Department, 2232 Rice Ave., Lake City, PA 16423. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Lake City Fire Department, West County Paramedics, the staff at Fairview Manor, and especially the ER staff, Dr. Cooney, and Nurse Chaz at St. Vincent Health Center.
