Mary Ann (Ferko) Cobucci
Mary Ann (Ferko) Cobucci, 97 of Girard, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West where she recently resided. She was born on March 26, 1913 in Meadowlands, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael and Maria (Vlek) Ferko.
She was raised and educated in Allegheny County and worked in a glass factory there. She also owned with her late husband, Americo, The Pittsburgh Inn in Harlansburg. She moved to Kane, Pa. and later moved to Fairview in 1951, where she was a homemaker, taking care of her young family. She later worked at Polly's Drive-in in Fairview and at Rich's Frozen Foods in Lake City, where she retired from in 1976. Mary was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard and enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching and cooking.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death in 2004 by her husband, Americo Cobucci, whom she married on September 1, 1940; daughter Marian L. Kaluzny in 2005; sisters Ann Yancosek, Helen Yancosek and Margaret Gonda; and brothers George, Michael, John and Stephen Ferko. Mary will be deeply missed by her son, Gene M. Cobucci and his wife, Karen, of Girard; son-in-law, Maurice Kaluzny of Erie, sister Catherine Ferralli of North East; brother Joseph Ferko and his wife, Ann, of Twinsburg, Ohio; grandchildren Kristin Kramer and her husband, Mark, of Girard and Christopher Cobucci and his wife, Kathleen, of Falls Church, Va.; great-grandchildren Katie Kramer and Joseph Cobucci; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A prayer service will be held there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard, PA 16417. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Building Fund at the above address.
