Lena D. (Luchesa) Carli

Lena D. (Luchesa) Carli 82, formerly of Kittanning PA, died Thursday September 10, 2009 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West, Girard PA. Lena was born on March 15, 1927 in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Barazi) Luchesa.

She graduated from Kittanning High School in 1947 and worked as a secretary for the West Penn Power Co. She married Alfred Carli on June 12, 1948 at St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Kittanning and settled down as a homemaker. After raising her family, Lena worked as the secretary for Nolte Chevrolet and later for the rectory at St. Mary Catholic Church, retiring from there. She then moved to the Girard area in 2001 and subsequently moved to Erie in 2005 to live near her children.

Lena was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Kittanning, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Erie. She enjoyed helping people in their communities, assisting at funeral lunches, and served on many committees.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Mary Carli, in infancy; her daughter-in-law, Ingrid Carli; a sister, Lena Luchesa as a small child; and her brothers, Aldo and Leno Luchesa.

She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Charles G. Carli of Erie and Eugene "Gene" G. Carli of Girard; and many nieces and nephews.

No Calling Hours will be observed. Arrangements are being handled by the Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, Girard.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 101 W. High St. Kittanning PA, at 11:00 AM. on Wednesday.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Kittanning, PA
