Ann M. Barrante Morton Fileger

Ann M. Barrante Morton Fileger, 96 died Saturday August 22, 2009 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. Ann was born December 20, 1912 in Erie, a daughter of the late James G. and Marina Rinella Barrante.

She graduated from the Rice Avenue Union High School in 1931 and went to work at the Marx Toys Company in Girard, where she worked until her retirement. She had also worked at Platz Grocery Store (Red & White) in Girard.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Burdette Morton in 1945; her second husband Eugene W. "Gene" Fileger in 2009, whom she married April 27, 1956 in Daytona Beach,FL.; six sisters Virginia Bostwick, Margaret "Peggy" Johnson, Rose Alamandi, Josephine Leonard, Yolanda Barrante and Joann "Babe" Humalanen; five brothers, Alfred, Salvadore, Joseph, James and Henry Barrante; also a grandson, Jeffrey Morton.

She is survived by her two sons, James P. Morton and his wife Nancy of Fairview and Thomas A. Morton and his wife Debbie of Reading; four grandchildren, Stephen B. Morton and his wife Jena, David S. Morton, Diane Morton and Todd Morton and his wife Debbie; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. A Prayer Service will be held there on Wednesday at 9:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 101 Olin Ave., Girard at 10AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
