 Charles K. "Charlie" Fetzner
Charles K. "Charlie" Fetzner, 75 of Girard, died at his home on Thursday June 25, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Erie, December 22, 1933 a son of the late Leo J. and Marcella Klemm Fetzner.
Charlie attended East High School. As America was at war, he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard USS R.E. Kraus DD849 during the Korean Conflict. He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal Upon his discharge from the military he returned to the Erie area and went to work for Bucyrus-Erie Corporation in the Plate and Weld Department. He later worked for Bearings Inc. for 23 years, retiring from there in 1994. He enjoyed model railroading and was an avid stamp collector since his childhood.
He will be sadly missed by his family which includes his wife, Norma Jean Gleason Fetzner whom he married November 14, 1975 in Wesleyville; also by a step daughter, Mary Ann Granahan and her husband Robert of East Springfield; four sisters, Jean M. Brown of Erie, Ruth A. Wynne and her husband Patrick of Erie, Rita A. Matz and her husband Darryl of Ohio, Nancy E. Snyder of Erie; three brothers, Carl G. Fetzner and his wife Twila of Erie, James L. Fetzner and his companion Jan McLaughlin of Waterford, Jon A. Fetzner and his wife Emily "Fran" of Waterford; a granddaughter, Caroline Miceli and her husband Kevin of Erie; many nieces and nephews; and was awaiting the birth of his great-grandchild in July.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, 309 Main St. East, Girard. Services will be held there on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery, Erie. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Metropolitan Erie, 202 E. 10th St., Erie, PA 16503
